Letting my 3 year old play videogames?

Alright Im a huge video game fan have been since I was about 5 and I think it has benefited me some, but really I feel like I have wasted my life playing games I haven't done crap in my life too much I got married and have an amazing son but other then that I don't do anything. So I am worried about him becoming like me I know I am the parent and I say what goes but he does have me wrapped around his finger. I think him playing games right now is good because it teaches him something and helps him with his skills on doing stuff and figuring things out. But also I don't want him to become like me and that's all he does. He only plays kiddie games like wall e and kung fu panda no blood or violent games. What do you all think is it good for a kid to play games to improve there skills and brain for awhile or is it a bad thing.
