My iguana please help????

ive had my iguana for about 7 weeks and the 1st time he sheded he was really moody ...and now he has dark spots on him ...i havnt had the uv light in the cage because the bulb blew and im scard he might have a disease or is that from him sheding??...i havnt playd with him in about a week because my mom said it could be a disease and were supposd to be gettin him checked soon but not soon enough..im going crazy not being able to bond with him....do you think its ok to hold him or should i wait until we get him checked?
